Allotments

There are two allotment sites within the Parish - at Anstey Lane and Groby Road.

The Anstey Lane site is managed by the Cropston Road Allotment Association

The Groby Road allotment site is managed by Anstey Parish Council, there are 38 plots available on this site, however there is currently a waiting list.

Frequently asked questions

  • The cost of the lease is £26.80 per annum
  • The pedestrian gate remains open at all times
  • If you need to have the height barrier opened this can be done by arrangement ring the parish office. (0116) 236 2646.
  • No bonfires are allowed on this site.
  • You are allowed to bring your dog onto the site although they should be tethered and not allowed to wonder onto neighbouring plots.
  • If you want to have a shed on your plot do put your request in writing to the parish office either at the address below or by email: clerk@ansteypc.org when permission is granted be mindful of where the shed will be placed on the plot so that it does not cast a shadow over your neighbours plot. This will usually mean putting them at the back of the plot.
  • If you do have a shed you may want to have a strong lock and consider insurance.
  • You are not allowed to have a green-house with glass panels. Do bear in mind the tenancy agreement regulations about the total size of your plot that should be cultivated. Polycarbonate green-houses and polytunnels are allowed.
  • The ground was treated with pesticides in November before they were last rotavated. We do not know the products that were used as this work was carried out by Davidson Homes contractors.
  • An area will be created for communal compost bins
  • If you have stones on your plot an area is cleared for putting these
  • It has yet to be decided how the cabin on the site will be used although we welcome your views on this.
  • We will put any loose chippings at the allotment site for plot holders to use.
  • We have been asked if manure can be delivered to the site. The Council will need to consider if this is something can be organised or if plot holders should organise this themselves.
  • You may have small fruit trees
  • No plastic chipping coverings or carpets can be used at site
  • The parish council will take responsibility for cutting the grass including pathways in between plots.
  • Allotment holders can use the noticeboard to communicate with each other
